| This lovely scarf is quick to knit and the spaces in the pattern make it easy to fringe. It was ironed to give it drape and softness. Size: 9" x 78" (23 x 198 cm) plus fringe. Materials: 4.6 oz/130 g of Yeoman Cashmillon; 100% acrylic 4-ply. Machine: Sample knit on Brother 940 standard gauge. Tension: 8. Gauge: 8.3 sts x 10.3 rows (this is not important but the finished size may be different) Pattern: Single bed tuck stitch Stitch World #291; 6 st x 4 row repeat Note: to make the scarf narrower, decrease by 6 stitches each side so 3 knit stitches remain on each (L31-R32); to shorten, be sure to end with a knit row in the pattern.
• Cast on over L37-R38 with waste yarn. Knit 1 inch of waste yarn for weight. Transfer L2 and R3 to their neighbours and move the empty needles out of work. Transfer the other unneeded stitches across the work as shown on the chart in your Stitch World book. Knit 1 more inch of waste yarn. Knit 1 row of ravel cord. © Eileen Montgomery 2002 |
