This lovely scarf is quick to knit and the spaces in the pattern make it easy to fringe. It was ironed to give it drape and softness.

Size: 9" x 78" (23 x 198 cm) plus fringe.
Materials: 4.6 oz/130 g of Yeoman Cashmillon; 100% acrylic 4-ply.
Machine: Sample knit on Brother 940 standard gauge.
Tension: 8.
Gauge: 8.3 sts x 10.3 rows (this is not important but the finished size may be different)
Pattern: Single bed tuck stitch – Stitch World #291; 6 st x 4 row repeat
Note: to make the scarf narrower, decrease by 6 stitches each side so 3 knit stitches remain on each (L31-R32); to shorten, be sure to end with a knit row in the pattern.

• Cast on over L37-R38 with waste yarn. Knit 1 inch of waste yarn for weight. Transfer L2 and R3 to their neighbours and move the empty needles out of work. Transfer the other unneeded stitches across the work as shown on the chart in your Stitch World book. Knit 1 more inch of waste yarn. Knit 1 row of ravel cord.

• COR, RC000. Crochet cast on with the main yarn going past the out-of-work needles. Knit 2 rows selecting the needles on the second. Centre the pattern on L3 and use KCII.
• COR, RC000. Set the carriage to tuck and knit 800 rows.
• COR. Knit 1 row to the left. Pull the empty needles to hold position. Crochet bind off over the empty needles or cast off around the gate pegs.

• Cut fringe to 13" (33 cm). With the ends as even as possible, fold 4 strands together. With a latch tool, pull a folded group through each space left by a non-working needle. Trim the edges so the fringe is straight and neat.
• Iron lightly on both sides to finish.
