This scarf is modeled on the hand-knit seamen's scarves that were given to merchant mariners at Christmas. It makes a great gift for anyone.

There are garter borders on the edges to prevent curling and ribbing at the neck to keep it in place.

Size: 10" x 43" (25.4 x 109 cm).
Materials: 3.5 oz/100 g of Bramwell 4 ply.
Tension: 8
Pattern: 75 stitches x 494 rows with the garter carriage. Download this .pat file into DesignaKnit, then transfer it into your machine.

• Cast on with the garter carriage over L37-R38.
• Tension 7, knit 1 row.
• COR, RC000. In pattern, knit 8 rows at T7.
• Change to T8, knit to RC485.
• T7, knit 9 rows.
• COR, RC494. Cut the yarn leaving a tail 3x the width. Backstitch bind off.
